The Benicia Art’s and Culture Commission Announces
an extension in its Call For Artists

The Commission has extended the application deadline to January 31. Get more information on the application process.

This initiative is part of the Commission’s effort to give the downtown benches a facelift and to build on the popular and successful traffic signal box program that has brought unexpected art in the most unexpected areas.

The ACC is expanding the public art initiative to include selected City benches.  There are 14 benches available to artists to transform into works of art, including benches on First Street, in front of the Library and in front of City Hall.

The second opportunity available to artists is the expansion of the popular traffic signal boxes art initiative.  Two additional boxes are now available for artists to create something unique.

It’s free to apply, and artists may submit individually or as a group.  Selected artists will receive an honorarium and the ACC will also pay for supplies.
